Mr. Michael(crazy man),
You do have some good ideas, and I like them. I will be tracking all suggestions, and the ones that are relatively easy to do, have demand, and are low cost to produce will be the first one out. These may make it by the end of summer. Thanks for the suggestions!
Regards,
Tracy

No need to ask how I know this but it is a good idea to not get in a hurry and then forget to put the screw in the bit ....or you might have to do something "creative" like this.....

I call them birthmarks!!!

this is a better pic, I think. They came out clean but the real trick was in getting the second two to match the mistake!

Hard to see but there is red purfling that goes around the fig sapele "boot tips" as well as the around the binding. I got that sinking "OH NO" feeling when it happened then I just turned everything off and went inside and sat down

Brian,
I'm not sure I understand what happened. You forgot to screw the bearing onto the tip of the bit? Or did you forget to tighten the colette for the bit? And please tell me you didn't make this mistake with one of the bit/bearing sets I sold you!

That's a tough repair I've never had that happen (yet) but I think I might repair it with a knot or maybe something commpletely contrasting. How did you fix it?

I used figured sapele for the rosette and thus also for the repair. The "thumbnail" (as I call it) was the same radius as a quarter so I measured from the center stripe to the other side, marked it and in an act of bravery used the same router bit (no bearing) to cut the adjascent "thumbnail" and then centered one at the top doing the same thing.....used alot of light!! The links below show clearer pictures. The recipient of the guitar just thought it was the coolest thing go figure!!
